Big projects under way
- Prisma Health Performance Center. The city’s 200,000-square-foot sports and events center on a 26-acre site between South Highway 14 and South Buncombe Road is fully enclosed and on track for a grand opening in early 2027, according to the city’s Oct. 2 update. It will have nine basketball courts that convert to 18 volleyball courts, a championship arena, a community hall, a cafe, a fitness center, an indoor walking track and sports simulators. Prisma Health signed a 10-year, $3 million naming rights deal in August. The center’s website already lists tournaments booked for every month from February to December 2027.
- Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital. Prisma Health announced a $350 million expansion of its Greer Memorial campus in 2025, and in September asked the Board of Zoning Appeals for a variance to put up more and larger signs than the city’s Unified Development Ordinance allows, according to the city’s Sept. 14 update.
- Public Safety Training Center. The first of the city’s four ForGreer projects opened Sept. 29 as a training hub for Greer police, fire and emergency medical teams.
