Father's Day in Greer 2027: events, car museums and brunch

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20, 2027. Greer has two things few towns its size can offer a car-loving dad: the BMW Zentrum, North America’s only BMW museum, and the BMW Car Club of America Foundation’s museum. Add a round at the city’s golf course, a morning on Lake Robinson and a free concert in City Park, and the weekend fills up. Several museums close on Sundays, so plan Friday or Saturday for them.

Car museums

BMW Zentrum, BMW Plant Spartanburg. The only BMW museum in North America, open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. “There is no charge to enter, and the museum is self-guided,” BMW says. The Zentrum also has a cafe. Plant tours are booked separately on BMW’s site.

BMW CCA Foundation museum, 190 Manatee Court. The BMW Car Club of America Foundation lists hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Discover Greer describes its rotating exhibits of BMW model cars and memorabilia. Phone: 864-329-1919.

Golf

Greer Golf, 2299 Gap Creek Road. An 18-hole public course owned and run by the City of Greer, recently renovated, with practice facilities and a clubhouse, along the South Tyger River. Tee times are booked on its website.

For a rainy day, Trade Street Social, 315 Trade St., 864-334-5550, has golf simulators that play “hundreds of courses,” plus bar games. It is open noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Fishing and boating

Lake Robinson, 2544 Mays Bridge Road, about 800 acres, has a boat ramp and three fishing piers, and Lake Cunningham, 2844 N. McElhaney Road, about 200 acres, is also open for fishing and boating. Both are open sunrise to sunset. Buy a CPW permit at the lake warden’s office at Lake Robinson, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (closed noon to 1 p.m.), and bring a state fishing license, boat registration and ID (Greer CPW, 864-895-3645). The warden’s office is closed Sundays, so get the permit before Father’s Day.
