Greer crews start curbside loose leaf pickup Monday, Nov. 2, and finish Feb. 5. Each of the city's four areas gets three or four set weeks. Find yours here.

Greer’s loose leaf pickup season starts Monday, Nov. 2, and runs through Friday, Feb. 5.

City crews will come down each street in set weeks, by area. Each of the city’s four areas gets three or four pickup windows over the season. Your leaves need to be at the curb on the first morning of your area’s window.

The dates come from the City of Greer’s 2026-27 leaf collection brochure, which the city mailed to homes this month. The city’s Public Services Department announced the season Monday.

Pickup weeks by area

Area First pass Second pass Third pass Fourth pass
Area 1 Nov. 2-6 Dec. 7-11 Jan. 11-15
Area 2 Nov. 9-13 Dec. 14-18 Jan. 19-22
Area 3 Nov. 16-20 Dec. 21-23 Dec. 28-31 Jan. 25-29
Area 4 Nov. 23-25 Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 Jan. 4-8 Feb. 1-5

Several windows are short because city offices close for holidays. The brochure marks Thanksgiving, Nov. 26 and 27; Christmas Eve and Christmas Day; New Year’s Day; and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 18.

Which area am I in?

The brochure’s map divides the city roughly into quarters around downtown. As a rough guide:

  • Area 1: the north and northwest, north of West Poinsett Street and west of North Main Street, out along North Highway 101.
  • Area 2: the northeast, east of North Main Street and north of East Poinsett Street, out along Gap Creek Road and East Wade Hampton Boulevard.
  • Area 3: the southwest, south of West Wade Hampton Boulevard and West Poinsett Street and west of South Main Street, including the Brushy Creek Road and Suber Road areas.
  • Area 4: the southeast, south of East Poinsett Street and east of South Main Street, around GSP International Airport, Highway 101 South and Interstate 85.

Streets near a boundary can fall on either side. Check the map in the brochure or call Public Services if you are not sure. The brochure folds, so its pages do not appear in order in the PDF, the city said.

The rules for your pile

The city lists these rules:

  • Pile leaves at the curb by the morning of the first day of your window.
  • Piles should hold only leaves.
  • Crews will not pick up piles with sticks, twigs, rocks, brush or household garbage. They can damage the equipment, the city said.

Outside leaf season, leaves go in lawn bags of 39 gallons or less for weekly yard waste pickup. Limbs must be no more than 6 inches across and 6 feet long, stacked with the cut ends one way.

What it means for you

  • Find your first date now. Area 1 is first, starting Nov. 2. Area 4 waits until Nov. 23.
  • Rake early, not late. Crews cycle through each route once per window. A pile put out after the truck has passed waits until your next window.
  • Lost the brochure? Pick one up in the lobby of Greer City Hall, 301 E. Poinsett St., the city said.
  • Questions: call the Public Services Department at 864-848-2182 or 864-848-2184.
