Where it is

The city does not draw neighborhood boundaries. On this page the area means the residential addresses inside Greer’s city limits west of Lake Cunningham, along North Highway 101 (SC 101, which the city calls N. Hwy 101 on its thoroughfare map) and O’Neal Church Road, between the Lake Robinson area on the west and the Country Club Road area on the east.

The city’s address file has about 760 residential addresses there, all in Greenville County and in ZIP code 29651. Most are single-family homes, with some townhomes, on streets such as Novelty Drive, Glendon Street, Leander Drive, Wakelon Drive, Daystrom Drive, Townsend Avenue and Meritage Street to the west, and Thomas Edwards Lane, John Thomas Way and Rosabella Lane to the east. About a quarter of the residential address points in the file are still listed as land.

The city’s comprehensive plan update says a new fire station on Groce Meadow Road, one of the city’s ForGreer projects, will serve the Lake Cunningham area and the northernmost parts of the city, with water rescue gear and quick-response medical crews.

Gilreath’s Mill

Just south of the area on SC 101 stands Gilreath’s Mill, also known as Heller’s, Bruce’s and Taylor’s Mill. The state’s National Register listing, dated May 28, 1976, describes a two-and-a-half-story frame grist mill with a steep gable roof and a separate water wheel. Tradition dates it to about 1814; the first record of it is from 1839. In 1860, the listing says, the mill produced 1,750 pounds of cornmeal and 60 bushels of flour. Most National Register properties are privately owned.
