Restaurants, school cafeterias, grocery delis and food trucks in Greer are inspected by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture, which took over retail food inspections from the state health department on July 1, 2024. That is true on both sides of the county line: neither Greenville County nor Spartanburg County runs its own restaurant inspections. After each inspection the inspector posts a letter grade decal where customers can see it, and the full report goes on the state’s SC Food Grades site.

How the grades work
An inspector records each violation, adds up the weighted points and subtracts the total from 100, under Section 8-402 of Regulation 61-25:
| Grade | Score |
|---|---|
| A | 88 to 100 points |
| B | 78 to 87 points |
| C | 77 points or less |
- The establishment may not cover, move or remove the grade decal.
- Inspections are risk-based: each place is inspected once a year or up to four times a year, depending on the food it handles and its history, the Department of Agriculture says.
- Repeat violations can bring follow-up inspections.
What recent inspections show
We counted every inspection in SC Food Grades with a Greer address from July 13 through Oct. 9, 2026. There were 145 in all: 89 routine inspections and 56 follow-ups. Of the 89 routine inspections, 74 (83%) earned an A, 12 (13%) a B and 3 (3%) a C. Follow-up inspections are not counted in those figures.
Grades from routine inspections
Method notes. The figures come from the database’s search by city for “Greer,” which follows the mailing address. They include places outside the city limits that use a Greer address, and places in both Greenville and Spartanburg counties. They cover restaurants, school cafeterias, grocery delis, convenience stores, workplace cafes and other permitted places. A grade reflects conditions on the day of one inspection; a later inspection may show a different grade, and the state notes that a report may not appear online right away. We do not rank or name individual establishments here. Look up any place by name to see its most recent grades and the full report.
